Do you think I look guilty? Yeah, me neither...

Seriously. I swear I wasn't digging in the trash bag full of shredded paper. Why would you accuse me of that? I thought there was trust between you and I.

I Drool

Click photo for my epic drool string...

So, it's not the best picture cuz Dad was using the camera in his phone, but check out that epic drool string hanging from my lip! I was sitting on the deck still as a statue watching that stupid crow that mocks me all day long and the longer I sat there the longer that drool got until I finally moved and it was about a foot long!

I rule...and, I drool...

I GOT A PUPPY POOL!!!!!

Oh my God! Oh my God! I got a puppy pool for the summer! I'm just starting to love playing in the water at the beach but still don't really like the waves; they're big and...wet. Anyway...

I totally love splashing around in the water and now I can do that whenever I'd like! Mom came in with this big blue plastic thing and at first it sort of freaked me out. After a few minutes, I was hooked. Put it up on the sun deck, fill the thing with water and this pointer's pad just got pimped.

When it gets too hot for me I just go up on the deck and splash around a bit. Just because I can, I blow bubbles out my nose as I walk in circles around the pool. Looking for what? I don't know, but I'm sure there's something there worth checking out.

Life is good.

Car rides are the best

I heart car rides

I don't know why, but I can't get enough car rides. My dad takes me with him whenever he has to run quick errands like dropping videos off at Blockbuster or to pick up puppy stuff at the pet supply store and I wouldn't miss it for the world.

It got me thinking about why I love car rides so much. Is it the wind in my face at 30mph? The # of smells I can take in at that speed is amazing; it saves me the time and effort of walking which would have taken me 10-times longer to cover that kind of ground. My ears flap around, too, which is fun and sometimes too much air gets in and I sneeze uncontrollably...not fun.

You haven't lived until you've taken in smells at 35mph

Is it because I look so cool and people always smile and point at me? I'm sure that has something to do with it, too.

Is it because the back seat is a great place to kick it old skool? You bet! When I finally tire from standing or I'm just too beat from an intense play session and can't stand in the first place I'm all about curling up and making the back seat my own

Kickin' it, old skool

I think most of all I just like to be around mom and dad wherever they go. I'm not that annoying when I'm in the car and I stay in the back seat so I'm not much of a bother and they enjoy getting me out of the house; gotta love that! When dad's new wagon shows up from Germany I'll have to get used to being in the back cargo portion which doesn't have windows, but I'm sure my guile and charm will result in me getting to sit in the back seat with a window in no time. Suckers...

Until next time, I rule.

Guess who's back?

Brisbane's back!!

My owners took a 2 week trip to Europe and I was incarcerated for the entire stint. When being dragged into the boarding area of the veterinarian's office I shouted, "What crime am I being charged with? I've committed no crime!!" just like Edmond Dantes in Dumas' The Count of Monte Cristo. OK, I actually ran excitedly in with all the other dogs and my 2 week lockup in the joint was really just like puppy summer camp; you might say I had fun. But, I'm glad to be back home with mom and dad and kicking it on super cushy puppy beds strategically placed throughout the house and getting regular walks and trips to the beach and all the lovin' I can handle. Life is good!

But in any event, I'm back in front of a computer and blogging again; feels good. Not too much happening around here, just getting back into the swing of things. The other day I was sitting on the steps watching my dad talking on the phone and I had a drool string about a foot long hanging from my lower lip, so that's pretty cool. Oh and I'm starting to wade into the ocean when we go to the beach, which is super fun though I'm still not sure about those waves.

Tons of fun stuff to blog about, so I'll just leave you with a couple photos for now. Until next time...I rule!!

Apparantley, other dogs blog

My homeboy Tyler sent my Dad this article on CNN about dogs blogging.

Why am I not in this article? As the premier Pointer blogger out on the Internets, I feel snubbed to not be included on this list. Everyone should write to CNN and demand that I get the recognition I deserve as the king of dog blogs. Anderson Cooper could show up here and play chase with me; trying to get my squirrel, but failing (of course). Or maybe Larry King might want to take me for a walk down to the Pier...strike that...I'll walk Larry King down to the Pier, cuz that old dude can't hang with a young buck like myself.

Busy blogging, for YOU!

Whatever. CNN must have some firewall that prevents them from accessing Facebook, Myspace and all the cool dog blogs out there. It's your Internet policy CNN, not mine...might want to search a bit harder next time you do a dog blogging piece.

Your loss, CNN...

I'm a big boy, now

I gotta look out for this sign, now

When does a puppy become a man? I'll tell you when, it's when he lifts his leg to go potty. Yeah, and this Pointer is a MAN!

I started lifting my leg recently on our morning walks and painting up the palm trees and random corners I could find and I can't stop. Sure, I still squat when I'm at home and when I don't feel like lifting my leg but I seem to be favoring the leg lift method from here on out.

If you're reading this and you're a tree, corner of a building, road sign or anything else that I can lift my leg and tinkle on you've been warned.

Will they never learn?

Guess what my owners bought me? You guessed it: another squirrel. Do they really think this one is going to last longer? Whatever. It's not my $5.95, so bring it on.

This one did not come with a name, like Nuts. I think I'll name it...well, why even name it if it's only going to last a week or 2, right? Fine. Let's call this one: Roadkill.

Actually, he's a Pointer...

I'm a rare breed. You don't see dozens of Pointers out on the walk every morning or run into them at the dog park, or anywhere else for that matter. Labs, Retreivers, Yorkies, you name it are everywhere but not Pointers. I've only come across one in the wild.

Apparently nobody seems to know what I am, either. I am mistaken for a variety of other dogs, some close cousins and some way off the mark. My owners get stopped everywhere we go and are asked what I am, or people presume to know what I am and my owners respond with the title of this post. Here's what I've been mistaken for, in order of frequency.
  1. German Shorthair Pointer (fair enough; we're really close cousins, except I'm orange/white...which is an automatic DQ according to the AKC...GSP's are still super cool, though)
  2. Beagle (Beagles can crawl under me and not touch my belly...guess my ears are what makes me look Beagle)
  3. A "hound" (not a particular breed, just something from the hound group)
  4. Brittany Spaniel (really? Do I look like this? That hair is shaggy, man, and those dogs fully grown are as big as I was when I was 4 months old!)
As for being mistaken for a GSP, the #1 most popular question I get asked is "why does he still have his tail?" Well, let's see...BECAUSE IT'S MY TAIL!!! How would you like it if I just cut something of yours off?! I totally get that GSP's have their tail docked when they are very young and are a different breed than I, but c'mon: I'm a Pointer!! Hunting varieties of my breed are trained to have their tail stick straight up when they find a bird, so not only is my tail super cool looking when I walk and when it wags because I'm happy to see you, but it serves a function so why get rid of it?

I guess I sort of like being that mysterious rebel-type that nobody knows about. My owners got me, in part, because there are no other dogs like me around and judging by the attention I receive on my morning walks and trips to the dog park, I certainly am a rare breed and everyone wants to come meet me and find out what I am. That also might be because I'm so handsome and am always happy everywhere I go. I guess it could go either way.

Anyway, no new pictures from the dog park this weekend (where I got soooo dirty, it was AWESOME) or from my shenanigans around the house so here ya go: puppy picture from night #1!!!

I have muffin tops?

The other day my owners were laughing and talking about how I have "muffin tops" or something? I have no idea what they're talking about. Apparently, these so called "muffin tops" are when your fat and skin roll over your belt, giving the look of the top of a muffin as it flows over the side of the cupcake cup.

Obviously, I do not wear pants or a belt but I do wear a collar and I guess these photos are proof of my muffin tops. You be the judge...

Whatever. I'm just a growing puppy with a lot of skin and some puppy fat. So I have a little extra skin and it hangs over my collar; big deal. OK, and maybe when I sit the skin hangs over my hips.

OK, I give up. I totally have muffin tops.
